We're dedicated to providing food and nutritional fruits and vegetables to our senior neighbors on a daily basis. Our mobile food distributions are twice a week.
Hunger can strike anyone at any moment. Countless families are one paycheck away from not being able to put food on the table. Knowing that childhood hunger is prevalent, GBSA has pop-up pantries at local elementary schools on any given day of the week. We provide after school snacks along with a bag of fresh fruits, vegetables and other items that can be used to prepare a meal.
Thankful Thursdays is an initiative to promote physical and emotional health. Various community leaders and program partners take turns visiting local senior centers that participate in the initiative. The Thankful Thursday guest initiates healthy conversation and opens the floor to allow seniors the opportunity to express kindness and recollect on the many reasons to be thankful. Positive communication and a few moments of peaceful meditation can improve immune function, reduce stress, increase awareness and foster self-care.
Together We Can is an initiative that GBSA started in an effort to build capacity and growth. Once a month a virtual session is held with community members, and other organizations to form alliances, and share resources for the greater good of our communities.
